I think this is the latest family picture that includes all members of the Senior Generation - the children of Grandma and Grandpa with their spouses. Obviously the picture is taken near Xmas time - not sure what year.
As we prepare for the Ocean City 2013 reunion the Reunion Committee wants to make sure we do our best to recognize all of the members of this generation. This generation never had it easy - growing up in the 1930's and 1940's certainly wasn't easy (No iPhones, no Computers - heck there was no TV for most of that time). We love to hear stories and hope to hear more about what those experiences were truly like.
This generation went onto raise their own families - the neatest part of that was that many of us cousins overlapped relative to ages and we always had fun going to family parties, there was someone to play with or hang out with. As parents this generation worked hard, they knew they had to work hard. During the late 50's, and 1960's affluence was not as big a part of the american landscape as it is today. They provided for their families in a "work hard" world, pushing the importance of education and doing their absolute best to provide their children a better life then theirs - while this is a natural instinct, this generation did so with such eagerness and commitment.
But most importantly they taught us and set a wonderful example of what "FAMILY" really means - we are so fortunate to have them be our "leaders", our "mentors" and we thank them for being an integral part of the Spendley - Hayden family and making our Family so special.
