A short story of how Reunion 2013 got started:
It was the night before New Years, and all throughout OC,
Not a person was sober, not even the Spendley's,
The wine bottles were open as was the vodka and lime,
Our wish was to not conk out before it was time,
We had a great meal and we drank much more wine,
When the younger one spoke it was a Reunion this time,
He spoke, a reunion we need, as soon as can be,
He' s had a few drinks, he's worse off than me.
He bellows the committee will be …
Now Robyn, Now Walter
Perhaps, even Mo and even her Ted
We all just pretend, we suggest it be time for his bed,
But He kept on, and David and Barbara and perhaps we shall meet…
and all of a sudden he jumps to his feet.
His eyes how they twinkled, his dimples so merry,
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry,
A pour of more wine and he said he'd be fine,
A resolution was made and best we can tell,
He wants to succeed but it will sure be a sell.
We were not up for bed so we spoke of the Spendley's for sure,
the family, the rumors or truth, whatever's the lure,
We finished more wine and off to our beds,
My eyes were yet closed and I forget what was said.
I woke to some noise in the kitchen he was,
making french toast and all that he does,
I ran for the coffee and he got to my space,
A Reunion it is as he spoke to my face.
We made all the calls and set up a meet,
My God, My God, I just wanted to eat,
With much to be done and no reason for wine,
To him I would say - it will all be just fine.
Okay - so that's the end of that short story. The most important part was forming the committee and that was done very quickly. You can refer to the next page for some pictures of the Reunion Committee and the planning process.
The hardest part of planning a reunion is setting a date and a location. We all had decided we would do our best on both these fronts but we would also make a decision that would work for the most people possible.
As we approach the Reunion, we are all very excited and can't wait to share the laughs, share the stories and spend time with our extended families. It has been a long time and everyone on the Committee has worked hard to make sure that we enjoy a fabulous weekend in Ocean City, Maryland on August 2nd thru August 4th.
