Xmas Traditions

During this past XMAS, Marilyn and I tired to change a family XMAS tradition, we were going to decorate our XMAS tree a week before XMAS eve. Well - for Bryan that was just not acceptable, he told Marilyn under no circumstances would he approve of breaking this long lived XMAS tradition.

I was a little surprised to hear that this tradition was so important to Bryan - but I guess I should not have been. Every XMAS since Marilyn and I have been married, we have decorated the tree on XMAS eve. In the beginning years - we actually went out and bought the tree on XMAS eve, that portion of the tradition may have been to save some money, as XMAS trees get pretty cheep on XMAS eve. In fact, those of you that know me, also know that I do all my shopping on XMAS eve. I have dome that since I was in college - I used to start off shopping in Baltimore on XMAS eve and once I was finished shopping I would drive home to New Jersey. In fact, one year Marilyn joined me (before we were married and we were just friends - year right!!!) on XMAS eve cause she did not believe I actually did that - she found out that is exactly what I did. Maybe that is why she married me!!!

In any event - i think the XMAS season is a time when families use traditions to make sure that special family moments are celebrated in a special way. It would be awesome to hear from other family members on what their most memorable family traditions have been.

We have several traditions - one is the decorating of the tree, I still do a lot of XMAS shopping on XMAS eve (although I do buy some stuff online ahead of time) and Marilyn buys all of us matching pajamas on XMAS eve (not sure my boys wouldn’t mind if that tradition ended).

Anyway - please share what your family traditions either have been or are. Thanks and I hope everyone had a great holiday season.
